Great Lakes Group

The Great Lakes Group is an informal association of Scottish country dance groups mainly in Ontario but including groups in Detroit and Buffalo as well. You can find out more about the Great Lakes Group here.

The Group came together to hold a ball on May 4, 2024 to celebrate the centenary of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, which was founded on November 26, 1923 in Glasgow. The ball was held in Kitchener at Bingeman’s Conference Centre (map). Music was provided by Don Bartlett and the Scottish Heirs with a special appearance by Laird Brown.

The Ball started with a Grand March. Here it is below as filmed by Diana McKenzie

In addition to the photos embedded in the video here are three more pages of photos from the Ball:

Tickets for the Ball sold out. As previously noted on the registration page there was a draw for a free ticket to the Ball. The winner of the free Ball ticket was Juanita Rivait of Windsor.

There is information on the Ball Program including cribs and video links on this program page on the Scottish Country Dance Database. You can also download here a pdf of the briefs of the Ball Program. The briefs are as they appeared in the dance booklet.
